The first flight of the test Airbus A320 aircraft fitted with the new Sharklets has taken place.
Equipped with all the appropriate test equipment and a shark mouth! the Airbus A320 took off from the Toulouse headquarters in France to collect in flight data on the efficiency and performance of the new wings.
This first flight was just under 5 hours and will be one of many test flights required for the certification of this Airbus modification.
By adding the Sharklets fuel burn should reduce on long sector flights by 3.5per cent – which should be an approximate reduction in CO2 of 700 tonnes a year per aircraft
